History of Cookie Monster

Jim Henson created Cookie Monster in 1966 for a General Foods commercial (at this time Cookie Monster had no name). The commercials never aired but eventually Cookie Monster along with the others designd for this commercial became part of the Muppet cast.

If you've ever wondered, chocolate chip is Cookie Monster's favorite cookie and primary food group (with oatmeal rasin being acceptable if there aren't any chips). Cookie Monster's main lines consisted of, "me want cookie" and "me eat cookie" followed by om nom nom as he consumed the crumbles.

According to Cookie Monster, before he ate cookies his name was Sid.
