Dancerina
1968 Mattel Dancing Ballerina Doll

DancerinaDancerina was THE doll to get for Christmas 1969. She was a 24 inch tall Ballerina doll. She had batteries in her back and when she was turned on, you would hold her by the knob in the center of the crown on her head and she would spin around on her toes.

Dancerina Doll She was made by Mattel and her body is marked:

(c) 1968 Mattel, Inc.
Made in the U.S.A.
U.S. Patent Pending

Her head is marked:
(c) 1968 Mattel, Inc. Mexico.

She came wearing her hot pink tights, leotard and tutu and lighter pink toe shoes. She also came with a smaller size 33 1/3 rpm record. If I remember correctly, it had music from the nutcracker.

She was heavily market on TV and many little girls had this wonderful beautiful dancing doll! She is very popular on eBay and has been for a very long time. Dolls in mint condition with their original outfits, boxes and record command top prices.

I remember how excited I was to receive my Doll from Santa on Christmas morning in 1969! She was the #1 most wanted item on my Christmas list. Feel free to share your memories in the comments below!
