Lisner Vintage Jewelry
Lisner Vintage Jewelry was made by the D. Lisner Co. from 1938 to 1979. The Lisner Company was founded in 1904 and imported and sold Schiaparelli jewelry in the United States.
In 1970, Lisner and Richelieu merged. In 1979 Lisner was acquired by Victoria & Co. and they ceased to use the Lisner name on their jewelry.
The most common signature used on their jewelry was the name . Lesser used markings and the years they were first used included:
- "Lisner" in print letters (1938). The copyright © symbol was added in 1955
- Lisner in script with a script letter L in an oval logo (1956)
- Lisner with an elongated L and isner in small print (1959)
- "Bois Glace" (1935);
- Crystalia (1926)
- "Diamond Jim Brady" (1935)
- Gremlin (1942)
- "Junior Prom" (1956)
- "L" in an oval (1956)
- Lavin's Violet (1926)
- "Men from Mars" (in script, 1940)
- "Powder-Blend" (used on pearls, 1940)
Lisner is best known for costume jewelry sets, including those made with glass and aurora borealis rhinestones and sets featuring molded plastic leafs in various colors.
The molded plastic pieces are also referred to as "Thermoset" or "Thermoplastic". The finish on the molded plastic items with a sheen or glow (as opposed to a matte finish) is called "Moonglow". They also made Christmas Tree Pins.
